The above sketch shows the same sunspot that was observed two days earlier. North is up. Preceding is to the left (mirror reversed image).A comparison of the this sketch with the previous sketch will give an idea of how quickly the appearance of a sunspot can change. Even during the thirty minute's it took to make this observation minor changes could be noticed.
